Valtris Specialty Chemicals was formed in December 2014 following the acquisition of Ferro Corporation's Polymer Additives Division by HIG Capital Partners. In April 2016, Valtris acquired Akcros Chemicals, a UK producer of polymer additives. Prior to the acquisition of INEOS ChloroToluenes and INEOS Baleycourt, Valtris was a company producing plasticisers, benzyl chloride, heat stabilisers, biocides, metal stearates, tin stabilisers and other related products, with a turnover of $345 million. Valtris, headquartered in Independence, Ohio in the United States, operated seven manufacturing plants, including five in the United States, one in the United Kingdom and one in India. In August 2022, SK Capital Partners completed the acquisition of Valtris from HIG Capital.
The history of the site begins with the creation in 1959 of the company "Produits Chimiques de Baleycourt" or PCB by ICI France, a subsidiary of the chemical group ICI Ltd, and the LOUIS company for the manufacture of Chlorinated Paraffins under license from ICI.
